Our Mounting Platforms for 34 mm Rails adapt standard optomechanics into a 34 mm rail system. Two options are available: dovetail mounting platforms and mounting clamps.
Mounting Platforms
These platforms fasten to a 34 mm rail by using an XT34 dovetail clamp, as shown in the image below. The XT34D2-30 is a 30 mm long dovetail mounting platform with a single, centered, 1/4" (M6) counterbored hole, appropriate for mounting posts, pedestal posts, or post holders. The XT34D2-50 is a 50 mm long dovetail mounting platform with three counterbored 1/4" (M6) holes, providing additional mounting options. The counterbored holes in these parts accept low-profile cap screws, available below.
Mounting Clamps
Our XT34HP Mounting Clamp has a built-in dovetail clamp for direct compatibility with 34 mm rails. It contains two 1/4" (M6) counterbored holes that can be used to mount posts, pedestal posts, or post holders to the top or side of a 34 mm rail, as shown in the image above. The counterbores in this part accept standard and low-profile cap screws.

Together with size adapters that incorporate 66 mm and 95 mm rails into an XT34 setup, these tools provide a complete family of rigid, versatile building blocks suited for virtually any optomechanical setup.

to a 34 mm Rail
XT34 Mounting Platforms come in either 30 mm or 50 mm lengths. The 30 mm version (XT34D2-30) holds a single mechanical component, and is perfectly sized to match our XT34C2 Double Dovetail Clamp. In contrast, the 50 mm version (XT34D2-50) can hold up to three mechanical components, and is ideal for situations where optomechanics must be placed in close proximity.
Because the platforms have minimal height, the caps of standard 1/4"-20 or M6 cap screws protrude from the dovetail if they are installed. Thorlabs therefore recommends that low-profile cap screws, which feature a reduced cap height, are used instead. These are offered in both 1/4"-20 and M6 varieties below.

Our XT34HP Mounting Clamp has a built-in dovetail clamp for direct compatibility with 34 mm rails. It contains two 1/4" (M6) counterbored holes that can be used to mount posts, pedestal posts, or post holders to the top or side of a 34 mm rail, as shown in the image to the right. The counterbores in this part accept standard and low-profile cap screws.
When flipped, the clamp can also be used to secure a 34 mm rail to a breadboard. The spacing between the counterbores, which is either 1" (25.4 mm) or 25 mm, is specifically designed for direct compatibility with either imperial or metric breadboards.
ZoomThese 1/4"-20 (M6) screws are used to attach optomechanical components to our XT34 mounting platforms. The low-profile head provides the clearance needed to fasten the mounting platform to an XT34 rail clamp.
